ROCKY MOUNTAIN ASCENT

OUR HISTORY
Rocky Mountain Ascent, housed under the organization Soul Ascent Coalition, is the successor of the Knights of Heroes Foundation (KOH). KOH was started in 2007 in response to a growing need for positive adult mentorship for Gold Star Children. In 2018, KOH began hosting day and overnight trips for children from group homes in Colorado Springs. These visits sparked a passion in KOH volunteers and graduates, who committed to expanding the program working with local youth in the foster care system. Rocky Mountain Ascent was officially established in 2022, later becoming one of multiple state programs within the Soul Ascent Coalition.
OUR FUTURE
Over the next few years, we will be transitioning our Colorado operation to a new location, designed ground up to serve the specific needs our mission. This transition not only provides more opportunities for customization, it also empowers us to spread our mission to more states beyond Colorado, and secures the financial stability of our organization for years to come. Below are details on how we plan to execute this plan.

1. Property Acquisition:

Programs: We will be running our on-site retreats and off-site excursions from our current property (business as usual).

Property: After acquire a nearby undeveloped property, we will begin surveying and clearing the land, and initiate the permitting process for development and programs
OUR TEAM
Executive Director
Tanner Harrold
Tanner has been working with KOH since its inception, and can't wait to begin this new chapter with RMA. He received his BA in Psychology from Humboldt State University, and is a certified Life Coach and Yoga Instructor. Tanner has synthesized his experience coordinating/guiding outdoor trips with his experience working in the field of mental health/addiction recovery to develop the holistic mentorship program that RMA has become.

Colorado Director
Liz Kelly
Liz is excited to join the RMA team in 2025. She holds a B.S. in Non-Profit Management from Miami University and has completed Permaculture Design training with a focus on herbalism. Liz is passionate about creating spaces where people can grow and learn alongside the land. Her goal is to foster a safe, nurturing environment that encourages personal growth, connection, and renewal through nature.

Whether you work in a residential treatment center or are a foster parent yourself, we recognize the strength of heart it takes to do your work. These retreats are our way of supporting you on your path to creating a more loving future. All retreats within our mission of serving at-risk youth are at no cost, thanks to our amazing community of donors and supporters.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR OUR RETREATS?

We work directly with agencies and organizations who serve at-risk youth. A few examples are:

- Residential care facilities

- Youth shelters

If you live within driving distance of Victor, CO, we'd love for your to join our team on weekends that you're available!

WORK EXCHANGE

Live on-site with our crew and work 25hrs/week in exchange for housing and food! Volunteer positions below:

WORK EXCHANGE POSITIONS

Help create a warm and welcoming environment at our weekend foster family wellness retreats! You will assist with housekeeping, cooking, and groundskeeping, as well as spend time connecting with our guests. If interested, you will also have the opportunity to lead wellness-related activities.

As a project specialist, you will assist with various property beautification projects. These could include woodworking projects, facility renovation/maintenance, cabin decoration, sign building, greenhouse construction, and anything else under the sun.

Bring your professional guiding experience to help foster families discover the great outdoors! As an Adventure Guide, you will lead 2-day backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, and/or biking trips depending on your area of expertise.
